Asian Rhinoplasty in NYC
Asian rhinoplasty is considerably different, due to the distinct attributes (thicker, more sebaceous skin, flatter bridge, wider base) of Asian noses. With Asian noses, traditionally, procedures focus on augmentation as opposed to reduction. Traditionally, Asian noses have flat bridges, sometimes with less definition, wider nostrils and/or a minimal tip. Dr. Ramtin Kassir specializes in Asian Rhinoplasty for his patients in NYC. Most ethnic patients who want to redefine their noses with a nose job surgery wish to enhance their nose symmetry, while creating a more defined, stronger bridge and tip. They often want to narrow their nostrils – which can be achieved with rhinoplasty surgery.
You may be a good candidate for an Asian nose job surgery if the nose you were born with makes you self conscious. Most NYC candidates may be unhappy with how their nose and profile looks. Slight changes to the shape of the nose can have a dramatic effect on your appearance. Rhinoplasty can reshape deformities, reshape changes from aging and other causes, and restore balance for people of ethnic decent.
Your recovery begins almost immediately after your nose job surgery. For many patients, the first 24 hours after your surgery are the most difficult time. During this time, patients may still be experiencing the affects of anesthesia and may also experience mild discomfort. Dr. Kassir and his staff will provide you with post-operative instructions. Among some of the issues Asian patients may deal with during their rhinoplasty recovery period are:
Dr. Kassir will place a small splint on your nose and nasal packing to help reduce swelling and bleeding.. This splint’s purpose is to protect your nose and to keep it stable for at least 4 to 9 days. This packing is placed inside your nose during surgery and removed the morning afterward.
